Why this role is exciting
Have an inside track on what goes into building an awesome convention!
What you’ll actually do
The Scribe Lead recruits and manages the team of Scribes, assists in ensuring Scribes are available for meetings when requested, and creates and manages the document warehouse of agendas and meeting transcriptions. This includes serving as the main point of contact for our scribe team, internal communication and coordination of the scribe team, creating and scheduling scribe to cover Dublin 2029 meetings, and managing and maintaining documentation, including adding templates, tidying document folders, or updating documents.
Skills and experience
Project Management skills are helpful in this role. Organization skills and experience with scheduling is handy. Quick typing, being able to listen, take coherent notes, distill conversation to key points and decisions, at the same time is helpful.
The work involved in the role
Recruiting other volunteers to be Scribes. Create the templates and a process for the Scribes to follow. Assist with scheduling Scribes for meetings when requested. Scribe when available. The Scribes accurately document the key discussions, decisions, and action items for the Dublin 2029 team and committee meetings by taking clear, structured notes during meetings. This ensures that decisions, action items, and major discussion threads are captured clearly and are accessible to all relevant members. Work with the Volunteer Team to recruit volunteers for the Scribe Team for both pre-convention, organization and planning, and at-convention, staffing meetings when requested.
Time commitment
Generally 3-4 hours a week for planning and recruiting, organizing the schedule, and attending meetings. The time commitment depends largely on how many Scribes are on the team.

What you’ll get out of it
Scribes spend time in the meetings that build a Worldcon convention. You can learn a lot about what goes into planning a convention. It’s also a great opportunity to meet other volunteers and make connections.
